Broomweed beetle
Abstract
This video talks about the history of the broomweed beetle in the Pacific since 1911. It was established in Fiji, Papua New Guinea, and Vanuatu where it has been very effective at controlling broomweeds (Sida acuta & Sida rhombifolia), small shrubs found in all 22 Pacific Island countries and territories that outcompete pasture species and cause health problems to humans such respiratory issues and so forth. There is intentions to introduce it in Polynesian countries such as Tonga and Niue in the near future.
