Abstract
Les espèces envahissantes sont très préoccupantes, en particulier dans les pays très diversifiés, car elles ont des effets négatifs tels que la perte de la biodiversité indigène, des altérations écologiques, la propagation de maladies et des impacts sur le développement économique et la santé humaine. En Equateur continental, les informations sur les invertébrés envahissants dans les écosystèmes marins sont rares. L'objectif de cette étude était de décrire et de localiser les espèces envahissantes présentes sur les côtes rocheuses des zones intertidales et subtidales le long de 10 zones (83 sites) couvrant la majeure partie de la côte équatorienne pendant 20152016. Les communautés de macroinvertébrés benthiques ont été mesurées sur des quadrats situés au hasard sur un transect de 50 m positionné parallèlement à la côte dans la zone intertidale et subtidale, couvrant une zone de 1 860 km2. Six espèces envahissantes ont été recensées : Arthropodes (Amphibalanus amphitrite), Cnidaires (Pennaria disticha, Carijoa riisei), Bryozoaires (Bugula neritina), Rhodophytes (Asparagopsis taxiformis) et Chlorophytes (Caulerpa racemosa). Les zones avec la plus grande abondance d'espèces envahissantes étaient à Jama (pas une zone protégée), la Réserve de faune marine et côtière Puntilla de Santa Elena et le Refuge de faune de l'île de Santa Clara (zones protégées). L'espèce la plus abondante était Carijoa riisei avec une abondance relative allant jusqu'à 80%. C'était la plus agressive des espèces envahissantes recensées dans la zone subtidale, principalement dans le centre nord de la côte équatorienne. C. riisei se développe sur le corail indigène (Pocillopora spp.) et sur les communautés de macroinvertébrés sessiles (Pinctada mazatlanica, Muricea appresa et Aplysina sp.) qui sont affectées par son invasion. Cette étude doit être prise en compte par les autorités locales et régionales pour créer des programmes de politique publique de suivi, de surveillance et de contrôle des espèces envahissantes. Ces programmes devraient se concentrer sur l'intégration des effets socio-économiques et écologiques. Ils devraient être complétés par une conception expérimentale et une analyse des variables environnementales afin de fournir des informations techniques pour une analyse de référence des bio-invasions le long de la côte équatorienne et des Galápagos, afin d'éviter que l'expansion des espèces envahissantes n'affecte négativement la biodiversité marine de pays méga-divers tels que l'Équateur et d'autres pays d'Amérique du Sud.
